When patients from the UK, Ireland, the US, Canada, Germany or the Nordic countries see quotes for revision breast surgery in Istanbul, the first reaction is often suspicion: how can it cost so much less? It's a fair question, and it deserves an honest answer.

Where the difference actually comes from

The price gap — typically 50–70% compared with private surgery at home — is structural, not a signal of lower quality:

• Operating costs. Staff salaries, hospital overheads, insurance and rent are substantially lower in Türkiye than in London, New York, Toronto, Frankfurt or Stockholm.
• Currency. Patients paying in pounds, euros or dollars benefit from the exchange rate.
• Volume and focus. Istanbul is one of the world's busiest centres for plastic surgery. High volume supports efficient, well-practised care pathways.

What a fair all-inclusive quote covers

For revision breast surgery, a serious quote should state, in writing, that it includes the surgeon's fee, the accredited hospital and theatre, anaesthesia with a qualified anaesthetist, support garments, follow-up checks in Istanbul, transfers, and continued aftercare contact after you fly home. If any of these are "extras", the headline price is not the real price.

The honest caveats

• Never choose on price alone. Revision surgery is technically demanding; the surgeon's specific revision experience matters more than a few hundred pounds either way.
• Cheapest is a warning sign. Quotes far below the market usually mean corners are being cut somewhere you can't see.
